About NYN

NYN is a scent studio exploring how scent can shape the way we experience art, space, and everyday life.

We create scent experiences for artistic collaborations, cultural projects, and thoughtfully designed spaces, responding to the unique character of each project. 

Rather than treating scent as something added at the end, NYN approaches it as a sensory medium, one that can shape atmosphere, evoke memory, and offer another way of experiencing a place or moment.

OUR APPROACH

We consider the people, environment, materials, and stories behind each project, then explore how scent can become an integral part of it.

NYN works exclusively with natural botanical materials, without synthetic fragrance, allowing the character and complexity of the materials themselves to remain at the heart of each scent.

Collaboration is central to our practice. We work with artists, makers, cultural institutions, and creative partners, bringing scent into conversation with other forms of expression.

FOUNDER

Nayun Lee is the founder and creative director of NYN.

Her interest in scent grew through hospice volunteering, where she incorporated natural aromatherapy into her care for patients. Through this experience, she began to notice the subtle ways scent could connect with memory, emotion, comfort, and a sense of place.

That experience continues to shape her approach to scent today, with an emphasis on care, presence, and the sensory qualities of natural materials.

A multi-sensory salon created in collaboration with artist Minku Kim, exploring the meeting point of painting, scent, and space.

A Passage Beyond
A scent experience created for the Nicholas Roerich Museum, introducing botanical scents throughout the museum as a subtle sensory layer alongside the artworks and spaces.
