The Inner Himalayas : An Evocative Journey

From afar, the Himalayas are beautiful, yet up close, they reveal a realm of hardship and joy. These sacred peaks mirror my long hiatus—an intense period of internal growth and enduring longing for art. Driven by the philosophy that all existence is interconnected and returns to nature, I returned to clay to express this profound cycle through my ceramic works.

The structural pedestals are another manifestation of the Himalayas, visualizing a modern landscape by layering natural "earth" and artificial "cement" over carbonized wood. This vision, which existed only as sketches for a long time, finally materialized into a solid spatial artwork, deeply inspired by my direct encounter with Nicholas Roerich’s actual paintings and his spiritual philosophy.

These pedestals hold the aroma of "Rasayan" and small ceramics, breathing a synesthetic vitality that transcends visual texture. Through this journey where raw materiality, invisible senses, and the resonant melodies of composer Yang Bang Ean organically commune, I hope you encounter the quiet, vast mountain within your own heart.
